The Indoctrination of a Terrorist Mind
by Sandi

...passes through three psychological stages to reach a comfortable acceptance of death.

  • Hatred of non-Muslims or dissenting Muslims.
  • Suppression of conscience.
  • Acceptance of violence in the service of Allah.

Salafi religious indoctrination plays a large part, with Saudi Arabia’s Wahhabi sect being a large contributer.

It is the Salafi sect of Islam that is the cause of terrorism, not US policies inthe Middle East. Read this article by Tawfik Hamid, former member of al-Zawari's terrorist organization. Tawfik Hamid in my opinion is too harsh on moderate Muslims, but is an expert on Islamic terrorism.

There is also a Tawfik Hamid Pod-Cast interview with Point of Inquiry "My Life as a Muslim Terrorist" that is about 38 minutes (interview starts about 5 minutes in).

The Morrison Digital Trumpet
by Sandi

Last night watching the Science Channel (or I think it was) they had a demonstration of the Morrison Digital Trumpet. It sounds pretty good as the clip below shows, however it can also be programed as other instruments, even an acoustic piano.

More on the Morrison digital Trumpet website. Click on the Multimedia link for samples.

Don't run out to buy one, unless you have around $2500 to spare laying around.

The Irony of Withdrawl and Timetables
by Sandi

Does this sound familiar?

Pelosi's announcement of a timetable for withdrawal (Memorial Day recess) from a fight with the White House over the funding bill has resulted in a lost battle.

Ironic, but more priceless than a Master Card moment.

About 1/4 Favor Senate Immigration Plan
by Sandi

This survey from Rasmussen Reports is no surprise.

A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey conducted Monday and Tuesday night shows that just 26% of American voters favor passage of the legislation. Forty-eight percent (48%) are opposed while 26% are not sure. The bi-partisan agreement among influential Senators and the White House has been met with bi-partisan opposition among the public. The measure is opposed by 47% of Republicans, 51% of Democrats, and 46% of those not affiliated with either major party.

The enforcement side of the debate is clearly where the public passion lies on the issue. Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and reduce illegal immigration.” That view is held by 89% of Republicans, 65% of Democrats, and 63% of unaffiliated voters.

Advocates of “comprehensive” reform have taken to arguing that those who want an enforcement-only policy must explain how they would deal with the 12 million illegal aliens already living in the country. The public reaction to that question appears to be “Why?” Only 29% of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to legalize the status of illegal aliens already in the United States.”

Thirty-eight percent (38%) of Democrats believe that legalization is Very Important. Just 22% of Republicans and 27% of unaffiliated voters share that view.

Of course politics and donations from lobbyists is more important that what the American people want.

A Novel "BREAKPOINT: terrorists vs. transhumanists"
by Sandi

This book sounds like a good sci-fi read.

Former counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke’s BREAKPOINT novel, set in the year 2012, is based on emerging technologies. "Globegrid," a high-speed global network, links supercomputers worldwide. Combined with advanced AI software, it promises to reverse-engineer the brain, revolutionize genomics, enable medical breakthroughs, develop advanced human-machine interfaces, and allow for genetic alterations and even uploading consciousness. But it spurs a terrorist-fundamentalist Luddite backlash against transhumanists, as hackers take down the power grid, and destroy vital international data and telecom links, communications satellites, and biotech firms.

A Mute MSM Portrays A Myth of Muslim Silence
by Sandi
Source TCS Daily

So many people I know and deal with online talk of silence in the Western Muslim communities. It isn't true at all, although one would never know it listening to the main stream media. But there is an Islamic "counter-jihad" in the Western world, a very vocal one, however they have no ear to speak to in the MSM. Worse is when the MSM prints misinformation, and without later corrections when they learn of them.

There is no more immediate or eloquent example of how these factors affect American public opinion than the recent MSM coverage of the arrests in a terrorist plot to attack Fort Dix, NJ. Four among the six suspects detained in the case turned out to be ethnic Albanians. Certain commentators rushed to declare they were all Albanians from Kosovo, and to reproach them as ungrateful refugees from a war in which the U.S. had intervened to save Muslims. A rage spread through the blogosphere against all Albanians - presumably including Albanian Christians, of whom few onlookers know much, notwithstanding the prominence of the most famous of all modern Albanians, Mother Teresa. It turned out, however, that the three Duka brothers indicted in the conspiracy, Dritan, 28, Shain, 26, and Eljvir, 23, are from the town of Diber in western Macedonia, and not from Kosovo. Nobody in the Western commentariat bothered to apologize to the Kosovar Albanians for their allegations against a whole community, based on supposition, alarmism, and spite.

Furthermore, the Duka brothers had nothing to do with the Kosovo war and refugee influx, but had been brought to the U.S. as small children. While their untrimmed beards appeared a sure marker for their having become adherents of the radical-fundamentalist Wahhabi sect, they did not attend an Albanian mosque in the U.S., but an Arab-Pakistani institution, the South Jersey Islamic Center.

Learning this the MSM goes to the mosque where the Duka brothers were taught their underworld Wahhabism, a faction that is not typical of American Muslims, and got the disclaimer of good moderate boys. Had they gone to the Albanian Muslims that they had smeared through ignorance or spite they would have got a denunciation instead of a disclaimer.

Within two days of the Fort Dix case arrests on May 7, the Presidency of the Albanian Muslim Community in the U.S. and Canada had published the following declaration: "we were shocked and appalled to receive the news of the possible terror act on Fort Dix Military Base in New Jersey. We strongly condemn violence and terrorist activities perpetrated in the name of Islam... we condemn all acts of terrorism. It is forbidden for a Muslim to cooperate with any individual or group that is involved in any act of terrorism or violence. It is the civic and religious duty of Muslims to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to protect the lives of all humans... this alleged heinous act evokes an acute sense of grief... We are grateful to the US Government and its military forces for helping Muslims... The Presidency of the Albanian Muslim Community in the United States and Canada fully supports United States Government efforts to end terror. We pray for peace and stability in the world. We are against all those 'so-called Muslims' who misuse and humiliate Islam and create ugly images of the Muslim people... We pray to Almighty God to save and protect the United States."

It is this kind of silence by the MSM of Muslim moderates condemning acts of terrorism, that gives rise to so many ignorant Islamophobes in America.

The Chrysler Tomahawk Concept Car
by Sandi
When you take a 10 cylinder, 500 horsepower engine from this Dodge Viper...

...and strap 4 wheels to it, you get a Chrysler Tomahawk that will go from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds.

Which isn't technically a bike because it has 4 wheels. However you wouldn't get me on it, even with the best driver in the world (assuming there was room behind).

Here is the YouTube video I uploaded.

Politicians have lost it and therefore so have we.
by Craig
Lawmakers and the White House are proving that the wants and needs of the American people are second most in their minds.
Rather than make the tough choices that American citizens want, they are choosing a form of amnesty.
In the next election, we need to put a tough man in the White House who still believes in law and order.
How the voters in Massachusetts can keep putting Senator “Killer” Kennedy back in office is beyond me. If his brother John F. were alive today, he would have long ago beaten the snot out of this low life brother who keeps chipping away at American values.
If Bush signs this bill (which I am sure he will)he will have lost one of his more ardent supporters and he has firmly landed in the liberal camp. We needed him for the war on terror as the other bad choice in that election would have done nothing. This didn't give him carte blanch to promote open borders.
Any Republicans or Democrats supporting this bill should be shunned by the voters now and forever.

Dead Cop Calls 911
by Sandi
Source Yahoo News

Now this is a real eye roller.

DEARBORN, Mich. - A police officer will avoid criminal charges despite admitting he took marijuana from criminal suspects and, with his wife, baked it into brownies....

The department's investigation began with a 911 call from Sanchez's home on April 21, 2006. On a 5-minute tape of the call, obtained by the Free Press, Sanchez told an emergency dispatcher he thought he and his wife were overdosing on marijuana.

"I think we're dying," he said. "We made brownies and I think we're dead, I really do."

Here is a YouTube video of the 911 call.

He seems perfectly coherent on the phone. I wonder if he equated "time going really really slow" with death?

Prominent Scientists Reverse Belief On Global Warming
by Sandi

According to this report, a growing number of scientists are converting from proponents to skeptics on global warming.

Following the U.S. Senate's vote today on a global warming measure (see today's AP article: Senate Defeats Climate Change Measure,) it is an opportune time to examine the recent and quite remarkable momentum shift taking place in climate science. Many former believers in catastrophic man-made global warming have recently reversed themselves and are now climate skeptics. The names included below are just a sampling of the prominent scientists who have spoken out recently to oppose former Vice President Al Gore, the United Nations, and the media driven “consensus” on man-made global warming

Check the link above for more, as well as links to the lists of scientists converting to skeptics.

Why Do Democrats Not Want To Count Each Vote?
by Sandi

If you live in Florida there is a very good chance that your primary vote will not count.

What if Democratic voters turned out for a presidential primary in Florida and their vote didn't count?...

It's an option national Democratic leaders are seriously considering as they grapple with Florida's newly scheduled 2008 presidential primary date, which could upend the national primary process and produce yet another weird Florida election. Consider the scenario:

On Jan. 29, Florida Republicans and Democrats head to the polls to pick presidential nominees. Republican votes count, just as you would expect, but the results for Democrats would be nonbinding. No delegates would be awarded based upon the results and instead party activists and insiders would decide on some later date how to divvy up the state's more than 200 delegates to the Democratic national convention.

Jon Ausman, a Tallahassee Democrat and member of the Democratic National Committee says, "I think it's much higher than 50-50 that we will make Jan. 29 a nonbinding" election.

Knowing that your vote may not count, now there is a way to get out the vote!

H/T to Nick who thinks it is ironic at "[t]he scene of one of the greatest election robberies of all time."

Secret Amnesty Plan In The Works
by Sandi

Apparently congress is looking for ways to buckle under to recent demonstrations by protesters on immigration reform. I can't help but wonder how many of the protesters are in this country illegally, however I would put money on the percentage being a highly substantial number.

CBS News has been told the plan that could be announced next week attempts to please hardliners by spending billions to secure the border first. But all 12 million-plus illegal immigrants could stay. They'd have to register and pay fines for having entered illegally.

To become citizens, they'd go to the end of the line behind those who've already applied.

Under a new merit plan, points would be given for work skills and language: The more points, the faster they can become citizens.

And everyone — even U.S. citizens — would have to prove who they are when applying for a job.

The bottom line: An illegal immigrant here today could remain in the U.S., but would have to wait at least 13 years to become a citizen.

Well I for one wouldn't mind having to prove citizenship for work ...even if I wasn't already retired. For starters though, the 12 million estimate of illegal aliens is several years old now. It is quite likely closer to 20 million.

Now as to the new plan, I'll bet a cookie to a doughnut that the "secure the border first" will be a total sham. Oh there will be token steps taken in that direction, but then we will be told that effecting secure borders is underway, and the 12-year-amnesty plan will commence post haste.

But of course the borders will not really be secure, and the illegal border crossings will increase even more. In fact this will probably be similar to Reagan's 1986 amnesty plan that was supposed to secure the borders and didn't. Instead it gave us the problem we are now facing.

As much as I would like to see the borders secure, it isn't even necessary to drastically cut illegal immigration. However it is necessary for national security.

If the government was really interested in stopping illegal immigration, which they are not, they could do so in just a few short months. Enforce the present laws alone would be enough. However to effect immediate change they need to substantially increase employer fines for hiring anyone in this country illegally (i.e. fined thousands per worker and mandatory jail time). After a few employers do the perp walk in orange fatigues, no one would dare hire anyone not in the US legally. Not only that those that have illegal workers would let them go just out of fear of the consequences.

If done this way, soon (very soon) there would be no work for illegal immigrants. The demand for them as cheap laborers would dry up, and the deflating wage scales in many areas would rise. Also not a single illegal immigrant would have to be deported (assuming we don't give them welfare which they are not entitled to anyway). Without even a small chance of employment or social services the grass will be looking much greener at home. Most would go home, at least long enough to get in line and try for a legal path to work in this country. I and most citizens in this country don't have a problem with that.

As it is we already allow well over 2 million to immigrate to this country legally every year. Far more than any country, or continent. Maybe even the rest of the world for that matter.

CBS News Hits Twenty Year Low
by Sandi

See BS News in spite of Katie Couric's legs has their poorest weekly viewer rating in twenty years.

New York - It surely wasn't what CBS dreamed about when Katie Couric was hired: "CBS Evening News" last week recorded its smallest audience since 1987, and probably many years before that.

It also didn't help that the average of 6.05 million viewers came at the beginning of the important May ratings "sweeps."

Maybe they should get Rosie O’Donnell, she is heavy enough to anchor anything.

Illegal Arms Reaching Hezbollah via Syria
by Sandi

Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, says that arms are reaching Hezbollah regularly across the Syrian border.

In a report to the UN Security Council, Ban said news of arms shipments, including "detailed and substantial" reports from Israel, and other nations, showed the need for a team he was sending to propose ways of monitoring of the border.

"Such transfers are alleged to be taking place on a regular basis," Ban wrote. "I am deeply worried that the political crisis in Lebanon may be deepened and exacerbated" by arms smuggling, most of which are reported to reach the opposition Shi'ite Muslim Hezbollah movement.

But of course Syria denies any involvement. Syria also denies any involvement in the murders of many anti-Syrians in Lebanon.

So what does the Secretary-General do? With Syria's denial, and agreement that it would work with the United Nations toward "peace and stability" in the region, he blasts Israel.

Ban also singled out Israel Air Force jets and unmanned aerial overflights and said again he had asked the government to "cease fully" these "violations of Lebanon sovereignty."

But without Israel's overflights Ban wouldn't have much of the information he is reporting.

Nor does the UN have any teeth to enforce resolution 1559 that called for all foreign forces to withdraw from Lebanon and for the Beirut, and stop arms shipments to Hezbollah. The buildup will likely continue until Hezbollah is strong enough to mount another attach on Israel, and/or overthrow the Lebanese government.

It won't get much play in the press, partially because the Lebanon Hezbollah conflict is old news, and too because Iraq is juicier news. Even the global warming alarmists get more media play than the Hezbollah arms buildup.
