Animator vs Animation
by Sandi

This is an Atom Films animation that I linked long ago, but embed code wasn't available at the time. I find it fascinating not just because of the humor, but I'm rather awed by the work that went into producing this flash film.

Enjoy.

The Invisible Jump Rope
by Sandi

While this is sort of humorous I suppose it could cause an accident of someone panicked and put on the binders. These guys are playing tug of war across the street with a pretend rope.

Udate: Clip changed because the previous video has been removed due to terms of use violation.

A Wild Moment Caught On Camera
by Sandi
Jason E. Schlosberg, a freelance photographer, caught this awesome wild moment in South Africa's Kruger National Park while on safari.

A heard of buffalo is ambushed by a price of lions, with a young calf being chased into the river. While the lions try to kill and remove the calf from the water, a couple of alligators get into the act, but the lions prevail. Not for too long however, as the buffalo heard returns to save the day.

That is as good as any National Geographic moments I have seen on television. Of course this is the natural course of nature being played out, but in this case I couldn't help but cheer for the buffalo, and was surprised to see the calf escape. Although the calf walked away it may still have died from the wounds.

The Chrysler Tomahawk Concept Car
by Sandi
When you take a 10 cylinder, 500 horsepower engine from this Dodge Viper...

...and strap 4 wheels to it, you get a Chrysler Tomahawk that will go from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds.

Which isn't technically a bike because it has 4 wheels. However you wouldn't get me on it, even with the best driver in the world (assuming there was room behind).

Here is the YouTube video I uploaded.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk
by Sandi
Next month the Grand Canyon Skywalk is scheduled to open. A couple years ago there was some discussion on Dean's World about if it was really going to be built, or whether it was a scam. The Skywalk is almost finished and is scheduled to open in April.

HT/Dean's World for the update.

Update: Hot damn, I didn't think this video would be so popular on YouTube. It has only been up for two days, yet has made the #5 YouTube spot for Travel and Places (15,525 views), not to mention today I have received 29 emails on it. Now if only they would visit my blog in half that number.

Microsoft and Windows Vista Eat Your Heart Out
by Sandi

Since last September I have been using Windows Vista (beta version) in a dual boot with Windows XP. Vista has a lot of eye candy over XP but leaves a lot to be desired. To name a few, third party hardware drivers are slow to catch up. There are several program compatibiltiy problems with many good programs I like to use with XP. And although my system is well above Microsoft's recommended requirements, it runs a tad slower than my XP.

But if eye candy is what you want, never doubt the power of open source. Here is a demonstration video of Vista vs Ubuntu, a Linux based OS running a window manager called Beryl.

(Note: 1st 1:30 is Vista. The rest after blue ring appears is Ubuntu beryl)

WINDOWS VISTA AERO VS LINUX UBUNTU BERYL

I also run Sun's Solaris 10 operating system (certified UNIX not UNIX-like as all Linux distros) and I'm hoping the Beryl that is in the works for it will soon be out.

If not I may have to give Ubuntu a go... hmm I might try it anyway.

Merry Christmas To My Readers (all six of you)
by Sandi
For your Christmas enjoyment I'm posting a couple of the better Christmas light displays synchronized to musical scores plus a few of my other favorites.

The first and my favorite most of you have probably seen. A great job of choreography done by Carson Williams, an Ohio electrical engineer.

Wizard In Winter - Trans Siberian Orchestra

This one is also by Trans Siberian Orchestra. The choreography is almost as good as Wizard In Winter with a good display of lights, however the windows lighting is a bit too boxy for me and detracts from the overall effect.

Queen Of Winter Night - Trans Siberian Orchestra

Oh how I love David Hasselhoff. This man has one of the best singing voices I've ever heard, and he's pure masculinity to boot. He melts my heart no matter what he sings. In this video he sings in German, but because the song is Silent Night you will have no trouble following along. No lights with this one, but who wants to look at lights when "The Hoff" is visible?

David Hasselhoff - Silent Night (Stille Nacht German)

Have you ever had a Christmas go by without hearing Bing Crosby's version of White Christmas? I don't believe I have.

White Christmas - Bing Crosby

This one is just for the kid in you (ya know its in all of us don't you?) He is just so damn ugly he is really cute!

Crazy Frog - Last Christmas

One of my all time holiday favorites, Blue Christmas done by Jon Bon Jovi.

Blue Christmas - Jon Bon Jovi LIVE

And to carry you from Christmas through next year (because I may not be blogging in between) from John Lennon: Happy Christmas (and a Happy New Year).

Happy Christmas - John Lennon

Ok I guess I got carried away. The page shouldn't load too slow unless your on dial-up, in that case my apologies.

Note: This post will be bumped to the top at least through Christmas.

Dangerous Roads (really dangerous)
by Sandi

Yikes! And I though Wisconsin roads were bad. (Link at bottom of page)

Doesn't look that dude in the yellow tee has any knickers on.

Not a good place to pass.

You take the high road I'll take the low road

No way would I get on that bus knowing that it was going to to anywhere near that spot.

Dozens more even worse roads here. Many dangerous, and scary too.

Einstein the Parrot
by Sandi

I like animals, especially the smarter ones. One of the smartest is probably the parrot. While this routine is more training that intelligence, I have seen demonstrations where parrots can pick out colors, objects and faces.

Quick Change Artists (really quick)

I've seen a few really good quick change routines (once in person) but nothing as impressive as this, even though a couple are sort of easy to figure out. I just can't stop watching it!

An Amazing Dog - Wow!
by Sandi
This is another clip emailed to me which appears to be a freestyle dog event. What amazes me is that this dogs attention can be held so perfectly for over two minutes. A routine tough enough for a human to keep up with let alone a K9.

Case Closed
by Sandi
From WFTV Orlando online slideshow.

DULUTH, Ga. — A bilboard seen here pokes fun at the Jennifer Wilbanks runaway bride case. Wilbanks, who had vanished after saying she was going out jogging, initially told authorities she was abducted. But she later admitted she took a cross-country bus trip to Albuquerque, N.M., to avoid her lavish, 600-guest wedding, which was to have taken place Saturday. Another from the WFTV slideshow.

Tennis anyone?

PIKESVILLE, Md. — Two of nine American bison that escaped from Buzz Berg's Stevenson, Md. farm run from police and volunteers on a tennis court at Greene Tree gated community in Pikesville, Md. Police herded the buffalo into the courts before herding them into a trailer and returning them to their farm. (04/26/05 AP photo)
